(KiS) Crayon Sun? Habt ihr noch nie gehört? Kennt ihr nur als Song von Michael Franks und Latin Playboys? Ha! Dann habe ich ja jede Menge Grund euch diese belgische Band vorzustellen – und Ihr werdet feststellen, uii , die Komponenten sind gar nicht so unbekannt.
Spätestens kennengelernt haben sich die beiden Hauptprotagonisten Aldo und Dave bei den Aufnahmen zur letzten Creature With The Atom Brain-Platte Night Of The Hunter. Also vor so 3 Jahre etwa. (Das war übrigens mein allererstes Review hier im Blog! https://rockblogbluesspot.com/2016/08/28/creature-with-the-atom-brain-night-of-the-hunter/ ). Aldo Struyf, ehemals DJ Aldolino ( z.B. Desertfest Antwerpen, Bandleader Mark Lanegan Band, Mitglied bei Millionaire = eine Institution der (belgischen) Musikszene. Dave Reniers; hier muss ich etwas recherchieren, ( http://www.bigdave.be/) von Hause aus Harmonikaspieler und Sänger, seit er 14 Jahre alt ist. Taschenrechner… mein Jahrgang 1969 minus 14 macht = locker 35 Jahre Musikerfahrung. Die Zusammenarbeit der zwei muss ziemlich gut gefluppt haben, dass jetzt am 1. November 2018 ein Machwerk mit 10 Songs den geneigten Musikhörern zur Verfügung gestellt wird. Was ist wohl das Rezept?
Man nehmen und schlage den Beat so lange, bis er schön schaumig ist, füge 3 Eier von glücklichen Hühnern dazu und rühre…eine Prise Reggae und Elektro vorsichtig unter. Die crazy Mischung wird noch unterstützt vom Einsatz einer Harmonika, schrägen Bassläufen und quirligen Keyboardklängen. Daves außergewöhnliche und vielfältige Stimme läßt in meinen Ohren einige Querverweise zu Alain Johannes und Mark Lanegan aufpoppen. Der erste Song ist schon direkt ein echter Killer und hat alles drin, was an Emotionen verfügbar ist. Auch die weiteren Tracks kreisen um Liebe, Leiden, Leidenschaft. Eine beinahe hektische Suche bei: Where Are You, eine tiefergelegte, entspanntere Nummer bei Black Sun. Bei Track Nr.5 sitze ich wieder in der Zeitschleife- von Mitternacht bis 2 Uhr morgens „Bloody Hammer“ hören. Auf Radio Central. Wayfaring Stranger, damals von Aldo auf den Plattenteller gelegt in ein Version von Gary Floyd. Der Gospel kommt auch mit der richtigen Temperatur daher. Nicht weit weg von Mr. Floyd, aber erkennbar neu mit Western-Feeling… Die Crayon Sun-Silberscheibe hat das Zeug für permanente Rotation. Anflüge von spontanen Tanz-Zuckungen sollte man unbedingt nachgeben, da sie sich gesundheitsfördernd auf Wirbelsäule und Psyche auswirken. (kirsten)

Aldo Struyf, formerly DJ Aldolino (e.g. Desertfest Antwerpen, bandleader Mark Lanegan Band, Member of Millionaire = an institution of the (Belgian) music scene. Dave Reniers; Here I have to research : (http://www.bigdave.be/) from home harmonica player and singer since he is 14 years old. Calculator… my age 1969 minus 14 makes = easy 35 years of music experience. The cooperation of the two must have gone quite well, that soon on November 1, 2018 a piece with 10 songs will be made available to the inclined music listeners. What is the recipe?
Take and beat the beat until it is nice and fluffy, add 3 eggs of happy chickens and stir… a pinch of reggae and electro carefully. The crazy mix is still supported by the use of a harmonica, slanted bass runs and lively peeping. Dave’s extraordinary and diverse voice makes some cross-references to Alain Johannes and Mark Lanegan pop up in my ears. The first song is already directly a real killer and has everything in it that is available to emotion. The other tracks also revolve around love, suffering, passion. An almost hectic search at: Where are you, a lower-laid, more relaxed number at Black Sun. At Track # 5 I sit back in time loop – from midnight to 2 a.m listening to“bloody hammer “ . On Radio Central. Wayfaring Stranger, back then by Aldo placed on the recordplayer in a version of Gary Floyd. The Gospel also comes with the right temperature therefore. Not far away from Mr. Floyd, but recognizably new with Western feeling… The Crayon Sun Silver disc has the stuff for permanent rotation. It is important to give in to spontaneous dance convulsions, as they have a beneficial effect on the spine and psyche.
